The why

Self-taught. Still looking.

Ben Wood shooting on a dune at blue hour, Oman

I’m Ben Wood — a self-taught photographer from Western Australia. Less than three years behind the camera.

Photography started as a personal outlet and became a way of seeing — chasing light, perspective, and the stories that usually go unnoticed. The work runs from aerial views to street level, with a focus on resilience, stillness, and the spaces between chaos and calm.

In that short time it’s been recognised with Australian Photography Magazine’s Aerial Photographer of the Year 2024, a Top 20 placing in the Travel category at Australasia’s Top Emerging Photographers 2025, several commended awards, and an exhibition at the Head On Photo Festival.

My goal is simple: to create images that make people pause, reflect, and see the world with fresh perspective. Long term, this is what I want to do full-time — every print bought and every project backed moves that closer.
